Visit the Navy Open House this weekend!
Bring along your family and friends to the Navy Open House this weekend - 22 and 23 May 2010! Other than exhibitions and wokshops, you can head off for a frigate guided tour. You will be able to see what is inside a frigate and how work is carried out on sea or during a mission. Be prepared to get amazed like how I did! :p
Frigates
You can also go for a ride on the Navy's Missile Corvette, Mine Countermeasure Vessel and Patrol Vessel.... just like the people in the picture below! :)
Also, don't forget to give these simulation games a try where you can shoot enemy ships down with weapons that are similar to the ones that the Navy use. :)
This weapon was very heavy, imo.
Before you go, do take note of the following:
(1) Entry to the Navy Open House is only via the shuttle buses provided. Board it at the Singapore Expo. Shuttle bus is only available from 0830 to 1630 hours on both days.
(2) Wear good walking shoes as you will probably have to do lots of walking. It is also for your safety should you go for the guided tour or ship cruises.
(3) Ladies, do not wear skirts or dresses. I was glad I didn't, afterall I had to climb ladders during the frigate tour.
(4) Bring along a cap and apply sunblock. You will not regret this, I tell you...
(5) Bring a bottle of water, if not you may also quench your thirst (and fill your tummy) at the many food/drink stalls available at the Navy Open House.
(6) MOST IMPORTANT: The frigate guided tour and ship cruises are only available through BALLOTING. Hence, do remember to head to any of the three Information Booths to do your balloting!
I would like to thank the Singapore Navy for the kind invitation (through Kelvin, that is) to the preview of the Navy Open House 2010, alongside the other bloggers. I would also like to thank the other Navy personnel for bringing us around the tour and taking care of us. It was a wonderful experience as I have a better understanding of the Singapore Navy and the things they do! :)
And of course, I took photos and recorded videos during my visit to the Open House. I will blog more about my visit after I am done with my research work (the dateline for my work is tomorrow! *gasp*)..... and after I am back from my short getaway (from Sunday to Tuesday *YAY*).
