Other than Richard Gere and Gerald Butler, the other Hollywood actor that I fancy is Russell Crowe. I remembered him from the good ol' Gladiator days, but it was the movie 'A Beautiful Mind' that he totally captured my attention.
Hence, I was really delighted when I had the opportunity to attend a movie preview for the upcoming Robin Hood movie, directed by Ridley Scott. This was because in this movie, Crowe takes on the role of the legendary crusader, Robin Hood. The other main character is Cate Blanchett, who plays the fiesty and independent Lady Marion.
Me at the Robin Hood movie preview
However, before watching the movie, I'd thought that it would be a story of Robin Hood robbing from the rich and giving to the poor. But no, this movie was about Robin Hood (also known as Robin Longstride in the film), before he became an outlaw... It is like a prequel to the Robin Hood legend.
During the 140 minutes, you will be taken on an action-packed adventure with scenes of charging horsemen, hand-hand combat, glistening sword fights, arrows flying swiftly in the sky towards its targets.
Amid the battles and chaos, love blossoms between Robin and Marion. I was quite amused with the dialogues between them, and I wish there was more scenes of them falling in love, while pretending to be a wedding couple. It'd definitely add more life to the already bleak period of that time where treachery, greed and power ruled.

The splendid cinematography, CGI and visual effects were commendable. I like those beautiful landscape scenes of rivers and greens. And talking about green, if you are hoping to see the mean and lean Crowe in a pair of green tights like in those Robin Hood tales you have watched all these while, sorry to burst your bubble... You won't be! Instead, he's all covered in armours.
No greens for Scott's Robin Hood. More Gladiator-ish, instead...
The men in this movie ain't Men in Tights! :p
Was it jeans that he was wearing? It seems like it, right?
You have to agree that the whole look as seen above is easily imitable... Put on your usual long-sleeve tops and that rugged pair of jeans, and pair it with a brown cape and boots. Oh, and remember to not to shave for a few days, to have an overall rugged look. :p

I am a fan of Iron Man, but I'd say this Robin Hood movie is nicer than Iron Man 2. And its not because I was given the tickets for the Robin Hood movie. If you manage to watch both movies, maybe you will agree too? :)
